Abstract

This study has as its central objective to investigate, in the works of the writer Pedro Pereira Lopes, one of the representatives of the new generation of Mozambican writers, the clashes that he presents in relation to the literary tradition of the country, recognizing the marks of transition and rupture present in the set of his contemporary prose. The second objective is to examine the fundamental characteristics of his literary productions aimed at adult audiences, namely, the crime novel Mundo Grave (2018) and the short story anthology A invenção do cemitério (2019). Starting from this scope, of a bibliographic nature, with qualitative data, the investigation derives, mainly, from the following theoretical-critical framework: Laisse, 2020; Cabrita, 2018; Connor, 1996; Keys, 2005; Leite, 1998 and Lauriti, 2012. In a preliminary survey, we verified that such writing constitutes an aesthetic proposal aligned with the maintenance of some aspects of the tradition, in addition to expressing the fragmentation and rupture itself, by demonstrating the new stylistic, compositional and thematic configurations implemented in the current literary scene. It is worth mentioning that the respective author has contributed significantly to the internationalization of Mozambique's literature and culture, reverberating his presence in the world.
