This paper addresses the need for the regeneration of socioecological ecosystems. To this end, it focuses on seeding and on the related processes of dissemination, appropriation, adaptation, and evolution of social innovation, questioning how design can operate to contribute to its development. Specifically, it aims to analyze the processes of seeding within a sustainable food ecosystem, notably that of the city of Porto Alegre. This ecosystem is particularly developed and relevant due to its historical articulation with the ecological movement, agroecology, and cooperativism. The research involves interviews with key actors, the identification of seed initiatives, and the development of a map of their dissemination trajectories. In doing so, it seeks to provide inputs for the evolution of design competencies, pointing toward the design of underdesigned seeds, deliberately open and endowed with broad margins for transformation.
