SEX EDUCATION AS THE ANSWER. Conflicting positions in the parliamentary debate on abortion in Argentina in 2018
Keywords:
SEX EDUCATION, ABORTION, PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE, DISCOURSE ANALYSIS, SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONSAbstract
Theaim of this article is to analyse, within the framework of Discourse Analysis, the social representations about the sex education that legislators put into circulation in the parliamentary debate for the legalization of abortion, in Argentina, in the year 2018. To do this, we analyze the topics that were related to this issue, as well as the social actors involved and those who were legitimized to address the problem. Although sex education constitutes a central argument both for those who opposed the project and for those who supported it, in the first case it is presented eminently as a method of prevention, inscribed in a medical discourse, while in the second it acquires an emancipator character.
