A proposal for evaluating the geomorphological impacts of dams

Abstract

Dams generate serious interventions in the environment. Therefore, a methodological proposal is presented aimed at approaching geomorphology in Environmental Impact Studies, through the use of audit instruments for the analysis and application of recommendations contained in dam EIAs, comprising the stages of study preparation, analysis technique and implementation (management). The procedures adopted consisted of literature review, documentary research and fieldwork. The methodological proposal points to the little or absence of environmental management of the enterprise analyzed during the operation phase, with an emphasis on geomorphology and integrated analysis with other components of the physical environment, as well as other environments (biological and anthropic). The proposal presented should not be seen as something limiting, as each impact will exist or not, be important or not, according to each environment and project analyzed.
