Abstract

Sexual violence against children constitutes a persistent reality and a serious violation of human rights in Brazilian society, having remained present for decades, with data and reported cases progressively increasing over time. Understanding these indicators is essential, particularly when analyzing the Brazilian context and the different approaches adopted by each state regarding the treatment and dissemination of such information. This study, grounded in a dialectical-critical theoretical and methodological approach, is based on bibliographic and documentary research and presents the results of a doctoral investigation, supported by the analysis of data covering a ten-year period. In this context, the strengthening and expansion of public policies aimed at the prevention and combat of sexual violence against children, as well as the enforcement of punitive legislation that ensures comprehensive protection and the full development of childhood, become essential.
