Technical supervision with INSS social workers: reflections on professional work

Abstract

This article presents reflections produced from the experience of technical supervision developed with social workers from the National Social Security Institute (INSS), through an extension project at UFRJ. The aim is to recover supervision as a fundamental space for reflection and facing the challenges posed to professional work in the face of deepening contradictions in the context of ultra-neoliberal hegemony. To this end, it uses the theory of value to problematize the wage determinations that affect social workers at the INSS, using a bibliographical review and the systematization of the experience of technical supervision. It is then stated that there is a need to expand supervision actions as a way of deepening theoretical-practical reflections and encouraging the construction of strategies that strengthen professional work in the directions mentioned by the Brazilian Social Work Ethical-Political Project.
