Abstract

The goal of this article is to address the perception of professionals who work in Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS) regarding the social assistance policy’s compliance with demands for rights violations in municipalities that do not have the Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance (CREAS) or specific technical team. To this end, a qualitative research was carried out, based on bibliographical research, questionnaire application, and semi-structured interviews. The main results demonstrate that the responsibility for meeting the two levels of protection of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) – Basic Social Protection (PSB) and Special Social Protection (PSE) – implies losses in preventing and meeting demands for rights violation, compromising the exercise of social assistance policy functions, as well as having repercussions on the work of professionals due to the intensification and overload of work.
