The article presents an integrative review of empirical research published in the last decade on the substantive representation of women in Brazil's Chamber of Deputies. The studies' results, once integrated, allow us to conclude that women deputies have indeed submitted and approved more proposals related to women's rights and gender issues since Brazil's re-democratization, despite institutional and cultural challenges that restrict their participation, and despite divergences of interests within the women's caucus.
