Democracia, Populismo e o que se segue

ROSANVALLON, Pierre. O século do populismo: história, teoria, crítica. São Paulo: Ateliê de Humanidades, 2021.

This is a critical review of the work The century of populism: history, theory and criticism, by the French historian and political scientist Pierre Rosanvallon. Populism attracts the attention of many researchers around the world and, despite this, the understanding of the phenomenon is still far from a consensus. From this review, we seek to analyze the contribution given by Rosanvallon to the understanding of a typology of populism. In the end, it is noted that, for Rosanvallon, in addition to being a possibility within democracy itself, populism can also mean the driving force that transforms it into a dictatorship.

Doutorando em Sociologia no Instituto de Estudos Sociais e Políticos da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (IESP/UERJ), mestre em Teoria e Filosofia do Direito pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Direito da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (PPGD/UERJ), pesquisador do Núcleo de Pesquisas em Direito e Ciências Sociais (DECISO) do IESP-UERJ, pós-graduado em Gestão Jurídica e Processo Civil pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Mercados e Capitais (IBMEC) e graduado em direito pela Universidade Estácio de Sá (UNESA). Advogado, professor convidado na Universidade Castelo Branco (UCB), na Universidade de Vassouras (UNIVASSOURAS) e do Curso de Direito de Trânsito na Prática no Instituto Abreu Bindé (IAB), articulista e palestrante.
