Os fantasmas se divertem: propriedade privada, expropriação e interdição ao direito à cidade / The ghosts are having fun: private property, expropriation and the limitation to the right to the city

Resumo

O artigo sugere uma reflexão a partir de duas problemáticas relacionadas: a centralidade da propriedade privada na produção do espaço e o diálogo com as questões trazidas pelo presente dossiê - o “direito à cidade”, as “tensões contemporâneas” e os “horizontes utópicos” -, o qual que se estabelece através da concepção da violência como espinha dorsal da reprodução capitalista. Analisa a centralidade da propriedade privada a partir da instituição de suas formas e dos seus títulos jurídicos como fantasmagoria, pondo luz na urbanização pelas formas de expropriação que interditam a realização do direito à cidade e da emergência do devir da sociedade urbana.

Abstract

This article reflects on two related issues: the centrality of private property in the production of space and the dialogue between this centrality and the issues raised by the present dossier (the “right to the city”, the “contemporary tensions” and the “utopian horizons”). This dialogue is established through the conception of violence as the backbone of capitalist reproduction. It analyzes the centrality of private property from the institution of its forms and its legal titles as phantasmagoria, shedding light on urbanization and its forms of expropriation which prohibit the realization of the right to the city, the urban revolution and the emergence of the becoming of urban society.
