Resumo: O presente artigo apresenta os achados do projeto "Cartas do Cárcere”, fruto do acordo firmado entre o PNUD e a PUC-Rio, que analisou 8.818 cartas endereçadas às instituições públicas no ano de 2016, considerando as narrativas das pessoas privadas de liberdade como a principal chave de análise do sistema de justiça criminal brasileiro e da crítica às matrizes violentas do Estado.

Abstract: This article presents the findings of the “Prison Letters” project, as a result of the agreement signed between UNDP and PUC-Rio, which analyzed 8,818 letters addressed to public institutions in 2016, considering the narratives of persons deprived of their liberty as the main key of analysis of the Brazilian criminal justice system and of the criticism of the violent state foundations.

Ana Flauzina é mulher preta que aposta nos movimentos: da vida e das batalhas. Professora da graduação da Faculdade de Educação da UFBA e da pós-graduação de Direito da UFBA. Atuou como pesquisadora no Projeto Cartas do Cárcere referenciado ao longo do artigo. 

Thula Pires, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro

Thula Pires é mulher preta de axé, mãe da Dandara e bailarina. Professora da graduação e pós-graduação em Direito da PUC-Rio e coordenadora do NIREMA (Núcleo Interdisciplinar de Reflexão e Memória Afrodescendente). Atuou como Coordenadora Geral no Projeto Cartas do Cárcerereferenciado ao longo do artigo.
