Resumo
Fruto de pesquisa etnográfica, este artigo tem por objeto o conjunto de representações e práticas relativas à proposta de polícia de proximidade presentes nos discursos de policiais lotados em uma UPP carioca. A análise objetiva identificar em que medida, diante da proposta de policiamento de proximidade, as relações da Polícia Militar com os moradores da favela foram modificadas, a partir da apropriação, ressignificação ou reinterpretação do projeto.

Abstract
This paper analizes the set of representations and practices regarding community-oriented policing present in the speeches of law enforcement agents based at a UPP as a result of an ethnographic research. Its objective analysis aims to identify to what extent, given the proposal of proximity police, the relations of Rio de Janeiro State Police (Polícia Militar) with the slum dwellers have been modified from the appropriation, reframing or reinterpretation about the project.
