Ensuring Anonymous Peer Review

To ensure the integrity of anonymous peer review, all possible care must be taken not to reveal the identity of authors and reviewers to each other during the process. This requires authors, editors and reviewers (who may upload documents to the system as part of the review process) to take certain precautions with the text and document properties:

The authors of the document have deleted names from the text, replacing them with "Author/Authoress" and the year in references and footnotes, instead of author names, article title, etc.
In Microsoft Word documents (up to 2003), the author ID must be removed from the document properties. To do this, follow these steps: starting with File in the main menu and clicking on the sequence: File > Save as... > Tools (or Options on Mac) > Security options... > Remove personal information from the file when saving > OK > Save.

For subsequent versions, the procedure should be carried out as follows: in the menu File > Information > Inspect documents. After checking, click on "Remove all" in the "Document properties and personal information" option.

In PDFs, the names of the authors must also be removed from the Document Properties under Edit>Preferences>Identity.
