Abstract

This article, titled "The Importance of Local Climate Governance: The Role of Cities in Reducing Vulnerabilities and Increasing Resilience," aims to assess how climate governance led by local governments can contribute to reducing vulnerabilities and increasing resilience in urban centers in response to the impacts of climate change. The central issue questions whether this local governance is effective in mitigating risks and adapting cities to adverse climate conditions.The paper is divided into three main sections: the first addresses the concept and effects of climate change in urban centers; the second explores local climate governance, highlighting the role of local governments in formulating mitigation and adaptation strategies; and the third analyzes urban vulnerabilities arising from climate change and the need for adaptation. It concludes that local climate governance is crucial for building more resilient cities that are less susceptible to future climate impacts, emphasizing the importance of preventive and long-term policies. Regarding the methodology, the inductive method was used and the techniques of the referent, the category, the operational concepts, the bibliographical research and the filing were triggered.
