Based on reflections about the right to the city in it’s conceptual and empirical forms, we intend to mature the understanding of adequate housing as a right in the city. To this end, through a guided process of theoretical and empirical review, this study promotes reflections on challenges historically presented to guarantee these rights in brazilian case, specifically. Through the debate, we will reach important observations, such as: If, in itself, guaranteeing rights is a challenge, let alone defending them in contexts of violation. Therefore, with problem at hand as a motivator, we’ll present proposals for future studies to deepen the debate as the way found by the author to credit the construction of strategies to instruct the reparation of rights when socio-environmental conflicts occur.
