ALÉM DA SUPERFÍCIE: UMA ANÁLISE DIALÓGICA DE COMENTÁRIOS COM TEOR RACISTA SOBRE O TRAILER DE THE LITTLE MERMAID

Abstract

The meaning of the utterances is built, in a dialogical perception of the speech, by some factors: common spatial horizon, the social context (of the participants in the interaction) and the assessment of the situation in question, which will be done from the context of each participant and , consequently, will demonstrate, linguistically, possible points of view. It is from this theoretical-methodological construction that we developed this text. The objective of this work is to analyze, from the dialogical perspective discussed by the Bakhtin Circle, how comments made by viewers of the trailer for the movie The Little Mermaid (2023) point to possible racist positions.We concluded that some of the comments selected for this analysis presented racist positions regarding the representation of the main character, the mermaid, who is played by a black actress in comparison to the cartoon, in which the mermaid had white skin.

Rafael de Souza Timmermann, Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA)

Possui graduação em Letras - Português/Inglês e suas respectivas literaturas pela Universidade de Cruz Alta (2009), Especialização em Ensino e aprendizagem de Língua Inglesa (2019) e Mestrado em Letras (2014) e doutorado (2019) pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras pela Universidade de Passo Fundo/UPF, com ênfase nas áreas de Enunciação e Ensino de Língua Estrangeira. Atuou como docente e pesquisador na Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul (UFFS) na Universidade de Passo Fundo (UPF). É professor adjunto da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA/Bragança) na Faculdade de Línguas Estrangeiras (FALEST). É coordenador do Brazilian Team da ELINET (Education, Language and Internationalisation), coordenada pela Dr. Nicola Galloway, da University of Glasgow; e é coordenador pedagógico e orientador de língua inglesa no programa Idiomas Sem Fronteiras (IsF) da Rede ANDIFES na UFPA. Sua pesquisa envolve ensino e aprendizagem de Língua Inglesa (abordagens e metodologias de ensino, materiais autênticos e cultura pop), formação de professores, inglês como meio de instrução (EMI), Global Englishes, Inglês como Língua Franca, políticas de internacionalização e linguística de enunciação.

Ellen Sylmara Sousa dos Santos, Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA)

Graduanda em Licenciatura Plena em Letras - Inglês pela Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA), campus universitário de Bragança. Atualmente, participa como bolsista voluntária do projeto de pesquisa Pop culture: Materiais Autênticos e Cultura Pop que tem como objetivo analisar como a cultura pop e materiais autênticos podem servir de recursos metodológicos para o ensino intercultural de língua inglesa para estudantes. Foi bolsista voluntária do projeto Teacher Plus: Digital Learning Objects que busca a utilização de metodologias e de artefatos digitais que favoreçam a integração das novas tecnologias digitais de informação e comunicação nos processos de ensino-aprendizagem de língua inglesa nas escolas no período de 2021-2022.
