Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it must be justified in "Comments to the editor".
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format.
  • URLs for referrals were provided when possible.
  • The text is spaced 1.5 (one and a half); uses a 12-point font; uses italics instead of underlining (except for URL addresses); Figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document in the form of attachments.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Guidelines for Authors on the About the Journal page.
  • In case of submission to a peer-reviewed section (e.g.: articles), the instructions available in Ensuring blind peer review were followed.

Author Guidelines

Respecting the proportional composition of 80% of doctors and the remaining 20% of masters and other degrees, the following works will be accepted for publication in the RCD:

 

a) articles: related to the theme of the Journal and presented in the form of literature review, essays or research results;

b) reviews: of books, theses, dissertations and films. The texts must be related to the theme of the Journal;

c) reports of dialogical communication experiences: reports by activists or researchers about their experiences in the field of dialogical communication.

Articles in Portuguese, English or Spanish will be accepted, as long as they correspond to the original language of the author(s). If the author's original language is not one of the three cited, the work must be translated into Portuguese to be accepted.

 

The works of the Journal of Dialogical Communication (RCD) should follow the following extension:

a) articles: between 15 and 30 pages, including references;

b) reviews: between 3 and 8 pages;

c) experience reports: between 3 and 10 pages;

d) interviews: between 5 and 10 pages.

 

Articles must be edited in MS Office 2003 (Word) or later versions, in 1.5 spacing, Times New Roman font, size 12. The page configuration must be A4 (210 x 297 mm) with margins of 3.0 cm ( top, bottom, right and left). Pagination should be done at the top right.

 

The title of the work (in the language of the article and a corresponding one in English) must appear centered in Times New Roman font, size 14, in bold, capital letters and 1.5 spacing. If there is a subtitle, use lowercase letters.

 

The abstract and keywords must be presented in the language of the article with their corresponding words in English (abstract and keywords). Each abstract must have a maximum of 15 lines (250 words) in single space, accompanied by a list of five keywords describing the content of the work. It is recommended to undergo a review by a specialized professional.

 

The text structure must be divided into unnumbered parts with subheadings (12-point font, bold and without tabs). It is necessary to contain an introduction and conclusion or final remarks.

 

Tables and illustrations must be referred to in the text and numbered according to the sequence (ABNT NBR 14724-April/2011). Tables must be prepared in accordance with the IBGE Tabular Presentation Standard and must have a title/caption at the top (12-point font and single spacing). Illustrations must have a title/caption at the top (12-point font and single spacing). Illustrations (graphs, maps, photographs, drawings, diagrams, flowcharts, organization charts, plans, tables and others) must be sent in TIFF or JPG format, already inserted in the body of the text, with indication of the source at the bottom.

 

Notes must be placed at the bottom of the page in 10-point font.

 

Direct and indirect citations must be organized in accordance with ABNT's NBR-10520 (August 2002). Direct citations in the text of up to three lines must be enclosed in double quotation marks. Direct citations, in the text, with more than three lines, must be highlighted with a 4 cm indent from the left margin, without quotation marks and with Times New Roman font size 10.

 

Citations throughout the text must respect the following standard:

- author's surname, date, page in capital letters: Russo (1997, p.54) and, when in parentheses, they must be in capital letters: (SILVA, 1997, p. 54).

Acknowledgments must be after the bibliographic references and before the notes.

 

- Books:

AUTHOR(S). Title: subtitle. Statement of responsibility (organization, critical review, translation, etc.).Editing. Place of publication (city): Publisher, date (year). Number of pages or volumes. 

Example: SILVA, José Graziano da. Painful modernization: agrarian structure, agricultural frontier and rural workers in Brazil. 2nd ed. Rio de Janeiro: Jorge Zahar, 1982. 192p.

 

- Dissertations and theses:

AUTHOR. Title: subtitle. Date. Number of sheets or volumes. Type of work (degree) - academic affiliation, place and date of presentation or defense, mentioned in the presentation sheet (if any).

Example: MARAFON, Glaucio José. The spatial dimension of the soy agro-industrial complex in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. 1998. 225f. Thesis (Doctorate in Geography) — Institute of Geosciences, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, 1988.

 

- Book chapters:

AUTHOR(S) Title of chapter. In: AUTHOR(S) OF THE BOOK. Book's title. Edition. Place of publication (city): Publisher, date (year). Number of pages. Chapter start and end pages.

Example: HAESBART, Rogério. Deterritorialization: between networks and clusters of exclusion. In: CASTRO, Iná Elias de; GOMES, Paulo Cesar da Costa; CORRÊA, Roberto Lobato (Org.). Geography: concepts and themes. 2nd ed. Rio de Janeiro: Bertrand Brazil, 1995. 353p. P. 165–205.

 

- Papers presented at conferences:

AUTHOR(S) OF THE WORK. Job title. In: NAME OF THE CONGRESS, event number, date of realization, place of realization (city). Title... Place of publication (city): Publisher, date of publication (year). Work start and end pages. 

Example: RUA, John. Socio-spatial transformations of rural Rio de Janeiro. In: NATIONAL MEETING ON AGRICULTURAL GEOGRAPHY, 14., 1998, Presidente Prudente. Communications... Presidente Prudente: UNESP, FCT, 1998. p. 300–301.

 

- Magazine articles 

AUTHOR(S) OF THE ARTICLE. Article title. Journal title, place of publication (city), volume number, issue number, initial and final page of the article. Month and year of issue.

Example: FERREIRA, Assuerus. Internal migrations and underdevelopment: a discussion. Journal of Political Economy, São Paulo, v.6, n.1, p. 98-124. ja.n/jun. 1986.

 

- Films

According to NBR 6023 (Aug. 2002), the film reference must contain the following information: title, director, producer, location, production company, date and specification of the support in physical units. To reference videos available on the Internet, remember first to indicate only legal sources, that is, make sure that the video was published by the copyright holder or by whoever is legally authorized to do so.

 

- Information obtained via CD-ROM:

AUTHOR(S). Title. Place of publication (city): publisher, date (year). Support type. Grades.

Example: CIDE. Statistical Yearbook of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Rio de Janeiro: Nigraph, 1997. CD-ROM.

 

- www:

AUTHOR(S). Title. Available on the Internet. Address. Access date.

OBS: All files submitted to the Journal must have a maximum of 4Mb.
