SPACE, SOCIAL CLASS AND CITIZENSHIP
an interdisciplinary analysis in the light of Milton Santos

This review examines Milton Santos' text "O espaço do cidadão" (1987), which explores the intersection between geographic space, social classes, and citizenship. It is a literature review highlighting how spatial location influences opportunities and the value attributed to individuals. Santos employs a multidimensional approach to discuss issues such as social mobility, unequal distribution of resources, and access to information and power. The author exemplifies the influence of space on individual life and value, discussing the correlation between location, social class, and resource access through case studies in the Andean region of Venezuela and the city of São Paulo. His analyses emphasize the need for more inclusive and equitable public policies to promote social justice in the face of socio-spatial disparities. Santos' ideas inspire further research on interactions between communication, culture, and urban space, aiming to build a fairer and more egalitarian world.
