GREENWASHING, UMA EXTERNALIDADE NEGATIVA DA SUSTENTABILIDADE?

Resumo

Atualmente existe uma maior atenção na relação entre o que as empresas comunicam e de fato fazem, devido ao agravamento da crise climática e dos problemas socioambientais. O greenwashing consiste na desinformação disseminada para apresentar uma imagem pública ambientalmente favorável  e  está presente em diversas atividades. A literatura sobre o tema é extensa e crescente. Devido à fragmentação e multidisciplinaridade dessa literatura, este ensaio teórico tem o objetivo de esclarecer aspectos do greenwashing apresentando a teoria de maneira estruturada e relacionando-a com exemplos que ilustrem a prática.  Apresenta uma uma reflexão crítica e propõem novos caminhos de investigação. As definições do fenômeno enfatizam a relação entre intervenientes colocando as empresas como agentes e os consumidores como vítimas. Consideram o greenwashing como um produto de comunicação e publicidade, ao invés de enfatizar os processos que o produz.  Pouca atenção foi dedicada na descrição do greenwashing e sobre como combatê-lo. Mais estudos devem direcionar atenção aos processos desalinhados com estratégias sustentáveis e analisar como corrigir esse desalinhamento sem inibir ações afirmativas e limitar o processo de aprendizado, deve ser uma questão central na elaboração acadêmica e regulatória sobre o fenômeno.

I have 28 years of professional experience. 20 years in large corporations such as Coca-Cola, Oi and Globo Organizations, in leadership positions in the areas of Marketing, Communication and Innovation; and the last 8 years, as a consultant and mentor for SMEs, Third Sector and Social Innovation businesses. In order to help people and organizations make the transition to sustainability in a systemic and strategic way, in the past 7 years, I have been strengthening my experience and knowledge on the Environment, Circular Economy, Circular Business Models Innovation and Diversity & Inclusion. I am currently looking for work opportunities as a consultant in organizations committed to building effective sustainable narratives in the human, environmental and economic dimensions.

A Irene Ciccarino é professora adjunta convidada no Instituto Politécnico de Leiria (IPLeiria), onde leciona disciplinas de fundamentos da gestão e gestão de projetos. Possui 10 anos de experiência como professora e 20 anos como consultora na área de gestão. Na economia social geriu projetos e participou da elaboração de políticas públicas, como o Programa Casas Vivas, premiado pelo Conselho Latino-americano de Ciências Sociais (CLACSO) em 2020. É doutorada na área de estratégia e investigadora no BRU-ISCTE-IUL. Ela estuda estratégias de criação de valor e desenvolvimento sustentável via inovação, projetos, políticas públicas e empreendedorismo, principalmente por meio de ações coletivas.
