Abstract

This essay reflects on the work of socioanthropology and the role that the researcher plays in the challenge of managing information provided by subjects/objects that act outside the rules of law. The data, due to its unique characteristics, requires being handled or presented in a covert manner. The issue in question, that is, the need to protect the integrity of the informants, requires the exercise of a narrative that works on real data but that is covered with a style associated with genres such as chronicle, essay and non-fiction, which we consider can expand criminological knowledge. In this writing, data from field work carried out on the northern border of Mexico is used.

Keywords

Anthropology, undercover work, violence, prostitution, science
