Abstract

Technoscientific practices establish knowledge, attributions, meanings, and properties production. The production of scientific knowledge in modern societies involves intersectoral work by universities and research institutes, private initiative, and government. The article aims to contextualize the development of Brazilian rural sciences. The structuring of this procedure in bibliographic research will be organized into three topics to develop scientific discussions: concepts of agrarian sciences, historical analysis and data on Agrarian Sciences in Brazilian universities. The source of research for state-of-the-art publications is the bank of theses where the search term is “agricultural sciences”. First highlight addressed is the purpose of Agrarian Sciences that since ancient times, scientists have perfected their knowledge to increase production. evolution is such that they are subdivided into several segments with the respective technological priorities. The second approach involved shows that Agrarian Sciences was the main educational base in Brazil, which was installed at the end of the 19th century. With the prominence that Brazil needed the expansion of crops, the Graduate Programs focused on agriculture were inaugurated in the third highlight, the practical results of the state of the art indicate the predominance (even expected) of Agrarian Sciences both in the areas of evaluation and in the areas of knowledge, with values estimated at 88.21% and 86.90%, respectively, of the publications collected.
