Abstract

The present study aims to explain the social thinking and stereotypes that Cariocas and Baianos have about tourist travels. For that, it was used a Quasi-experimental study that activated different profiles of travelers, veryfing causality from the variable (Act of traveling). The results of the study pointed to an appreciation of the external group (positive stereotype) and a lower appreciation of the group itself (negative stereotype) from the perspective of the respondents of both groups studied, ratifying the idea that Social Representations manage stereotypes explaining a similarity in the structuring of Social Thought. In this sense, it becomes fundamental to point out that this research also aimed at integrating the models of cognition and models of Social Thought, thus providing a greater understanding of psychosocial phenomena, since there is an interconnection of the concepts of these two epistemological fields.
