Abstract

This article presents the main results from a benchmarking study concerning the best practices for the education of Entrepreneurship and Innovation for the Engineering course, aiming at the creation of an ecosystem of these fields at the Engineering department of the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ). The study involved the top 4 universities (2 foreign and 2 national) according to the 2020 QS World University Rankings and a third foreign university where one of the authors participated in an exchange program and that has similar performance as the Brazilian institutions according to the aforementioned rank. The methodology of this research consisted of a quantitative and qualitative study, which was carried out from theoretical analysis, documents, and exploratory field study. The physical spaces aimed at innovation in these universities were also investigated, many of which have an important interaction with the Entrepreneurship and Innovation disciplines of these institutions, so a similar proposal is presented for UERJ, the coworking space. The expected result is a greater exchange of values between society, university, and companies, creating startups and strengthening the innovation ecosystem created by the project.
