Abstract

 The paper covers the rock gaucho and his relationship with the population of Rio Grande do Sul presents a brief historical overview of the genre in the world, focusing on the adaptations and transformations developed in the state. Exhibit the peculiarities of rhythm produced by rock gaucho, as the language adopted by some bands that approach in terms of their letters, stories and locations of Rio Grande do Sul. The theme is also present on the soundtracks of film productions Gaucho and assist in identifying regional theater in the local public. The paper takes as a theoretical framework on the rock and youth culture, Dapieve (1995), Borba (1996) and Souza (1995). The methodology uses literature, emphasizing the relationship between cinema, the theme of films, soundtracks and public preference for this type of music. Through the research work was possible to highlight that the gaucho rock and film complement each other. They are related through music, used as the soundtrack, musical style and how it is portrayed in cinema.
