ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND PARTICIPATORY MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES: REQUIRED INTERACTION FOR THE EMERGENCE OF A NEW PARADIGM

Abstract

 In recent decades, concern about environmental issues deserving attention is everywhere on the planet. In this sense, we see an action in environmental education essential, able to support the understanding of the interrelationships between man and the environment, aiming thus the conquest of new social and environmental relationships. Thus, this article consists of a paper that aims to reflect on how environmental education can contribute to the formation of critical and responsible citizens, able to participate in a democratic political decisions, economic development of present and future generations . For this we used to dialogue with the authors considered a reference in research on environmental education and participatory management: Freire (2005); Reigota (2006, 2007), Leff (2001, 2006) and others. At the end, one realizes that the interrelationship of participatory management of natural resources and critical environmental education, ethics and emancipatory is of fundamental importance in the exercise of citizenship and the preservation and solving environmental problems.
