Abstract

This article aims to bring up the topic concerning the so-called south/north immigration focused on the recent Brazilian flow to Canada, more precisely to Toronto. Canada is a quilt of many immigrants that does not yet hold a solid identity. Moreover, it hosts in that city the only ethos on earth where most its inhabitants are not natives and not even master the local language. in that city lies also the largest Brazilian community -proportionally to the population outside a Portuguese-speaking country. Who are these Brazilians and why they chose Canada? These questions begin to have their answers in this article.

Keywords: uprooting, identity, emigration
