The Basic Education schools must comply with the provisions of Laws 10.639 / 03 and 11.645 / 08, which make teaching on Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous History and Culture compulsory. This obligation affects all the teachers of the establishments. However, the responsibility for implementing the laws lies with black and indigenous teachers, that is, with their colleagues. In this way, and not only for this reason, black and indigenous teachers have taken the lead in the implementation of laws, because they have an understanding of the need and have the necessary sensitivity to try to involve their colleagues Assisting in the process. The university inserted in the schools through several programs, like PIBID, projects of research and extension can observe and prove this fact in the quotidian. We report in this text the research developed in a primary school in the Vale do Arinos region, where a black teacher became a reference in the application of Law 10.639 / 03 and a partner in extension projects about Africanity. The projects about the history and the Afro-Brazilian culture that she develops in her classroom draw the attention of colleagues, who ask for their orientations with the purpose of adapting to their classrooms, which she does with joy, since she is committed to The racial question in education and society, which promotes the work. And sometimes it raises jealousy and jealousy, which causes the stress of both parties and the retardation of the implementation of the law. On the other hand, this teacher and a great part of the educators demonstrate the understanding that racism is still very present in our society and that the work, although exhaustive, it can not stop.
