Abstract

This research aims to analyze the complex relationship between gender, territory, and violence from an intersectional perspective, focusing on the novel Ventos do Apocalipse by Mozambican writer Paulina Chiziane. Through a critical analysis of the work, we explore various situations of verbal, psychological, and physical violence experienced by Mozambican women in war-torn territories dominated by patriarchal logic. Leading theorists discussing the notions of intersectionality and the coloniality of power include Butler (2021); Hooks (2018); Collins and Bilge (2021); and Lugones (2017). Chiziane's novel serves as a fundamental tool for feminist criticism, revealing the violence that occurs in the intertwining of different systems of power.
