This article undertakes some reflections on the construction of female identity in the work Verão no Aquário, by Lygia Fagundes Telles. To this end, it observes the situation of post-modernity and the new social perspectives on women, created in the context of the 1960s, which imposed reflection on women's identities, desires and responsibilities. It investigates, above all, how the narrator-character of this novel is a reflection of this aforementioned context, being led to think and mediate her own identity. For this approach, concepts from Castells (1999), Hall (2011), Beauvoir (1999), among others, were used, converging on the conception that Telles's work is an important object for investigating contemporary female-authored narratives.
