This study aims to analyze Igiaba Scego's novel Adua (2018), examining how different children and young characters in the novel experience diaspora in the modern period. Based on theories about immigration and exile and male domination over female bodies, this article discusses the different oppressions experienced by the characters in Scego's novel, which position them as minoritized subjects. Through themes such as immigration motivated by the search for better life conditions, fleeing political conflicts and child sex trafficking, different facets of the diaspora and processes of welcoming in the place of destination are studied. As the characters are children, this study highlights the denial of childhood in the context of migration, which is not limited to the literary field, but is a tangible issue in reality.
