Journal History
In 2009, in order to further strengthen these relations, the professors of the Post-Graduate Program in International Relations at the Rio de Janeiro’s State University - PGRI/UERJ and the Argentina-Brazil Studies Program - PEAB da Universidade Nacional de Rosário, Argentina - UNR created the Brazil-Argentina International Studies Center (NEIBA) with the aim to provide an institutional basis for the development of studies in the field of International Relations, with special emphasis on themes related to Argentina and Brazil.
With the publication, starting in 2012, of Revista Neiba, Cadernos Argentina Brasil, we intend not only to publish the works of the professors and students of the respective programs, but also the academic contributions of the professors and researchers from other institutions. In this way, we have started a new phase in the development of the collaboration program, which can be considered as consolidation, opening new perspectives and challenges for NEIBA.
The journal was evaluated in Qualis Periódicos 2016-2019 from CAPES, advancing in the ranking from B3 to B2, in the area of Political Science and International Relations. In 2019, it was developed a new look for the journal, both on the portal and in its content. In the new model, traditional page numbering is no longer used, since all articles have an electronic identifier, called elocation-id (electronic location identifier), a unique identifier within the volume, which allows the correct identification and citation of articles. It should be noted that the journal will continue to use the digital object identifier, DOI (Digital Object Identifier), which guarantees its respective location on the network.
In order to reinforce the journal's binational character, starting this year, Prof. Clarisa Giaccaglia (UNR) was appointed co-editor.
The journal's target audience is graduated and non-graduated students, and those who participate in Graduate programs in the area of International Relations. The journal contributes to the education of students who aim to pursue an academic career, whether they are graduated or are still undergraduate. For those who are already graduated, the contribution is even greater, since for them it is also possible to submit articles to the journal, where they will be submitted to corrections and constructive comments that aim only at the growth of the students in their intended area of study.
Our publication is online and free, through the Open Journal System, which guarantees its complete accessibility. By making quality articles on international topics available free of charge and online, the journal contributes to the academic education of students in the area of political science with a focus on the field of International Relations, as well as to expand the knowledge of all those interested in the subject. In addition, the journal is published on our social networks, which extends the reach of academic articles to the public that is not currently in the academic environment. All works and events are published on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/revistaneiba/) and Twitter (@revistaneiba).
The journal also contributes to the consolidation of binational academic ties between Brazil and Argentina, two countries that are strategic allies and that, through Mercosur, Abacc and other regional organizations, seek greater integration and cooperation.
Revista Neiba, Cadernos Argentina-Brasil is already included in the databases of important indexes, and its Editorial Board is composed of professors and researchers from different institutions and countries.
