This paper analyzes the similarities and differences between the National Action Plans of Brazil and Argentina regarding the United Nations (UN) Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda. This Agenda, adopted in 2000 through UN Security Council Resolution 1325, aims to incorporate women’s participation and protection in peace processes, prevent gender-based violence, and promote female inclusion in the post-conflict recovery of countries. In 2008, Argentina launched the “Action Plan within the Defense Sector for the Effective Implementation of the Gender Perspective in the Framework of International Peacekeeping Operations,” and Brazil, in 2017, adopted its first plan, entitled “National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security.” The research employs a methodology based on documentary and comparative analysis of the national plans, along with a literature review. Argentina, a pioneer in incorporating this perspective, prioritized the integration of women into the country’s armed forces and the assessment of that situation. Brazil, on the other hand, adopted a multidimensional gender perspective, which is not limited to the military dimension but also includes social awareness and international cooperation.
