Em março de 2021, ocorreu a reunião de alto escalão entre representantes das diplomacias chinesa e norte-americana. O encontro aconteceu no Alasca entre o Secretário de Estado Anthony Blinken e o Ministro das Relações Exteriores chinês, Wang Yi. O Governo Biden tem sido marcado por grandes movimentações de reorganização do bloco democrático-ocidental e por tentativas de contrapor a ascensão chinesa no cenário geopolítico, especialmente por conta do avanço da Iniciativa Cinturão e Rota, que estreita relações chinesas em parcela considerável do globo e ademais as mudanças estratégicas da China também na área econômica e militar. O presente trabalho pretende apresentar um balanço das relações bilaterais entre China e Estados Unidos, tendo como marco a referida reunião e na intenção de verificar se existe plausibilidade e solidez no discurso de “Nova Guerra Fria” a partir da análise militar, econômica e geopolítica. A metodologia utilizada foi qualitativa e descritiva, usando-se da literatura relevante para analisar os dados empíricos que nos mostram, como conclusão inicial, um acirramento da disputa entre as duas potências que aquecem a ideia de “Nova Guerra Fria''.

Abstract.

In March 2021, the high-ranking meeting between representatives of Chinese and US diplomacy took place. It occurred in Alaska between Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The Biden Government has been marked by major
movements to reorganize the Western Democratic bloc and by attempts to counteract the Chinese rise in the geopolitical scenario, especially due to the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative, which strengthens Chinese relations in a considerable part of the
globe and in addition China's strategic changes also in the economic and military areas. The present work intends to present an overview of the bilateral relations between China and the United States, having as a landmark the mentioned meeting and with the
intention of verifying if there is plausibility and solidity in the discourse of “New Cold War” from the military, economic and geopolitical analysis. The methodology used was qualitative and descriptive, using the relevant literature to analyze the empirical data that
show us, as an initial conclusion, an intensification of the dispute between the two powers that warmed up the idea of “New Cold War”.
