The aim of this article is to provide a systematic review of the role of the British Council in British cultural diplomacy, mapping its policy instruments, organizational structure and activities abroad. By analyzing the interaction between the British Council and UK cultural diplomacy, the article seeks to show the relationship between British strategic planning and its operational valences and political activities, aiming to show how cultural institutions operate within a bias towards the area of cultural diplomacy and soft power, in addition to demonstrating the role of the council as a vehicle for British cultural propaganda. As a methodology, a bibliographical analysis was carried out on the role of the British Council in UK diplomacy, through articles and documents that illustrate the relationship between British soft power and the British Council as a whole.
