Abstract

In this essay, Jorge Luis Borges’ reading of Cortázar, Poe and Hawthorne is the subject of analysis regarding the construction of a poetics of the short story, considering the influences these authors exerted on the argentine writer. Approaching the literary creation as a recurrent, circular and concentric process, our investigation points to the constitution of a writing based on notes and analysis facing a system of literary pairs, suggesting not only possibilities for the writing, but also for the reading.

Charles Kiefer, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul - Programa de Pós-graduação em Letras

Escritor, Professor adjunto da Faculdade de Letras (Graduação e Pós-Graduação) da PUCRS, onde atua como coordenador do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisa Literatura e Kabbalah. Possui graduação (1994), mestrado (1996) e doutorado (2003) em Teoria da Literatura pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul. Recebeu, por sua tese, o Prêmio Mario de Andrade, concedido pela Biblioteca Nacional ao melhor Livro de Ensaio publicado no Brasil em 2012. Tem experiência na área de Escrita Criativa - ministrando também oficinas particulares - e Teoria da Literatura. Publicou inúmeros livros, entre eles Caminhando na Chuva, Valsa para Bruno Stein, Quem faz gemer a terra e Dia de matar porco, com os quais conquistou inúmeros prêmios, sendo indicado doze vezes como finalista e três vezes vencedor do Prêmio Jabuti (concedido pela Câmara Brasileira do Livro). Teve livros publicados em Portugal, França e Israel e convertidos em filmes, peças de teatro e outras obras artísticas e culturais. Participou, como escritor brasileiro convidado, do Phellow in Writing, organizado pelo International Writers Program (Iowa University), do International Writers Collony (Quent, NY), ministrou oficinas de criação literária em Genebra (Teatro Saint Gervais) e em diversas Feiras do Livro em Portugal e em Israel. Integrou ativamente o Ano do Brasil na França, ministrando palestras na Feira do Livro de Montpelier (França), na Librairie Tschann, no Teatro Le Lucernaire, etc. Atuou, também, na área de políticas públicas de cultura. Foi Coordenador do Livro e Literatura da Prefeitura Municipal de Porto Alegre, Diretor Geral da Secretaria Estadual da Cultura, Secretário Municipal da Cultura, Secretário-Adjunto de Cultura do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, fundador e presidente do Conselho Municipal de Cultura. Fundou e foi o primeiro presidente da Associação Jovem Leitor, entidade sem fins lucrativos que distribui livros, realiza palestras e encontros em comunidades menos favorecidas, promovendo a criação de bibliotecas e outras ações de cunho benemérito.
