Extension is one of three roles that form the pillars of higher education institutions. Taking into account that extension projects have as a principle the development of a practice that interconnects the university, the students and the society, this establishes good atmosphere that makes the creation of leaderships and the establishment of solutions possible. Consequently, those factors contribute to the students’ education, as a teaching-learning process, and to the professor, as a way to improve their qualifications. Therefore, this article aims at reporting the experience of a university extension project that provides medical care for patients with chronic wounds. It is a project developed in the ambulatory of the State University of Londrina’s Medical Center, involving professors, nursing and medical students. The project aims at the development of work by the university, the service and the community, in order to improve the medical care to carriers of chronic wounds. The proposal offers: extra-mural experiences for the students, considering they are introduced to a reality of their work process, the exchange of knowledge among all the people involved; the development of research, the presentation of communications in scientific events and, mainly, the provision of full care for the patients.Downloads
