El presente artículo presentará un lineamiento general de la propuesta de la hermenéutica de Emilio Betti y la contrapondremos a la realizada por Hans Georg Gadamer. Distinguiremos dos niveles en los que se lleva a cabo la discusión entre ambos autores. El primero es un debate que podríamos calificar de “material”, en el sentido en que gira en torno al significado del proceso interpretativo. En este nivel de análisis observaremos que las diferencias más importantes se basan en lo que sendos autores consideran es la relación entre, lo que denominaremos junto con Betti, la “forma representativa” y su crea­dor. En este nivel de análisis señalaremos también la existencia importantes similitudes, que suelen ser soslayadas. El segundo nivel de discusión es de naturaleza epistemológica. Desde esta perspectiva, y a primera vista, la relación entre ambos autores parece ser antinómica, pues el interés metodológico de Betti lo lleva a prescribir cómo debería llevarse a cabo la interpretación, en tanto el rechazo gadameriano por toda metodología, lleva a que simplemente describa en qué consiste dicho proceso. Nuestra hipótesis será sostener que en este aspecto existe una complementariedad mayor de la que incluso estos dos autores admiten.

Abstract

This article presents a general outline of the proposal of Emilio Betti's hermeneutics and we will oppose it to the one proposed by Hans Georg Gadamer. We will distinguish the two levels which the discussion between the two authors is based. The first is a debate that could qualify as "material" in the sense that revolves around the meaning of the interpretive process. At this level of analysis, we found that the most important differences are based on what many authors consider the relationship between what we call with Betti, the "form of representation" and its creator. At this level of analysis the existence of important similarities are also pointed out, which are often circumvented. The second level of discussion is epistemological. From this perspective, and at first glance, the relationship between both authors seem to be antagonistic, as the methodological interest Betti takes to prescribe how the interpretation should be made while the Gadamerian rejection of any methodology, leads to simply describe in which is the process. Our hypothesis will argue that in this respect, there is greater complementarity between the authors, even though they do not admit it.
