The theme of this work focuses on some significant aspects of the housing problem in Brazil: the lack of housing, the quality of households, and the spatial distribution of buildings. These issues play a relevant role in the urbanization of the country and, in particular, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In 2009, Minha Casa, Minha Vida program opened up a perspective in the housing sector. Created to help supply the housing deficit, this program stood out in the amount of investments and constructions as well as in advances related to the housing social perspective, since it intended to meet lower income population demands. This study aimed to analyze whether there was an increase in socio-spatial segregation in Rio de Janeiro state due to income range and a concentration of housing units within income ranges that include people with higher purchasing power. This work’s methodology included analysis of quantitative and cartographic data coming from Brazilian government, study of bibliography on housing in Brazil, as well as preparation and analysis of maps based on spatial data.Descargas
