Urban fragmentation is a process that materializes in an object, the fragmented city. The aim of this paper is to recall briefly some of the main features of urban fragmentation in Latin America and present some actions that could help defragment the city. Indeed, although the literature emphasizes either fragmentation or urban integration, it is important to link the two processes in an attempt to reduce sociospatial fragmentation. Two case studies that show a process of urban defragmentation are presented in Mexico City.
