This work analyzes the management of silence in the work of the Mexican novelist Juan Rulfo to address a certain tradition of philosophical ideas of immanence and contingency in the fields of literature and psychoanalysis. The idea of absence “tells us” in a paradoxical way about the presence of silence, a kind of lack conditioning the speech itself.
