Author Guidelines
The journal "Cadernos do IME – Série Matemática" accepts the submission of articles from the areas: Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Mathematics Teaching and articles on applications of Mathematics in other areas of knowledge (Interdisciplinary).
Journal sections
There are three sections in the journal " Cadernos do IME - Série Matemática":
- Section called "Articles", intended for the dissemination of unpublished and original research papers on subjects of Mathematics and/or its applications, among them interdisciplinary articles with strong interface with Mathematics; and, papers that report practical experiences, experienced in the classroom, on the teaching of mathematics topics, of any level of teaching;
- Section "Disclosure Articles" is intended for the publication of exhibition texts, in accessible language, with the objective of presenting, in a summarized way, the main concepts of a mathematical theory, giving an overview on the subject treated, presenting, however, some originality in the structure of the text, as illustrative examples and intended for the dissemination of knowledge of the subject exposed;
- "Notebook", is intended to disseminate interesting works, developed in scientific initiation projects or monographs of the end of undergraduate or graduate course, and which can deal with already familiar topics, such as the presentation of a new demonstration or interesting applications of a result already known; but with original approaches or that collaborate for a better understanding of the subjects exposed.
Submission of Articles
The submission of the article will be made through the website:
https://www.e-publicacoes.uerj.br/index.php/cadmat
The authors must submit the article to one of the Section Editors, according to the type of the article submitted.

Ethics in publishing
The journal "Cadernos do IME - Série Matemática" follows, both from the ethical and operational point of view, the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (https://publicationethics.org/core-practices),of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (http://cnpq.br/documentos-da-ciac),in addition to the rules of the ethics committee of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (http://www.sr2.uerj.br/sr2/coep/index.php?mod=regulamenta.htm). These guidelines aim to encourage the identification of plagiarism, bad practices, fraud and possible ethics violations.
plagiarism
The submitted papers are consulted on search engines and, if necessary, in similarity software. If high rates of similarity are detected with previously published works in vehicles that have ISSN/ISBN the author will be notified and the manuscript rejected.
Authors
They must ensure that the text is unpublished and that the appropriate citations were made to the texts consulted in the preparation of the manuscript. The work presented must have a theoretical basis that sustains a clear and objective discursion.
Plagiarism will not be accepted or the submission of the same manuscript to more than one journal, both situations are unethical behaviors. However, an article may be submitted, the abstract of which has been presented and/or published in The Anais of Congress, even if the article has the same title of the abstract, provided that the article submitted to the journal "Cadernos do IME-Série Matemática" presents a text with complete content, bringing details of the subject exposed, emphasizing the differences between the contents of the abstract already published and the article submitted and with reference to the published abstract.
authorship
They configure as authors only those who contributed intellectually to the development of the study. The author must meet one or more of the following requirements:
- Participation in the idealization of the study design;
- Participation in data collection, analysis and interpretation
- Participation in the theoretical development of the subject dealt with at work;
- Participation in the writing and final review of the theoretical content of the manuscript to be submitted.
The simple final typing of the work or reading for review of the text of the manuscript to be submitted, as well as the collaboration in data collection or giving equipment to obtain data are not, by themselves, sufficient criteria for authoring a work. In these situations, those who collaborated can be quoted in Thanks.
Authors must explicitly, individually, declare any potential conflict of interest, financial or not, direct and/or indirect.
Evaluation of the article submitted
The evaluation of each article submitted to the journal will be made by at least one Ad Hoc Evaluator with expertise in the subject addressed in the article.
The Ad Hoc Evaluator will be appointed by the Editors and, if necessary, the choice of the evaluator will have the advice of members of the Editorial Board.
If there is a need for another evaluation, it will be at the discretion of the Editor-In-Office to give an opinion, after analysis of the article submitted, on the acceptance or rejection of the article or invite another evaluator to issue another opinion on the text.
The evaluation of the articles submitted is by the double-blind system, in which the authors do not know the evaluators and vice versa. Thus, the file of the article submitted at the time of submission should not bring the name of the authors. Authors will only be identified after the article has been accepted for publication.
Preparation of originals
Number of pages and languages used in the writing
Articles for any section must have a minimum of 3 pages and a maximum of 25 pages. Papers exceeding 25 pages will be analyzed by the Editors and Editorial Board and may be accepted for publication when considered with relevant content. Articles can be written in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
Each paper submitted should contain a summary, with a maximum of 150 words, an introduction, so that non-experts can have a clear idea of the main topics under discussion, avoiding technical details, a list of 3 to 5 keywords and the MSC(Mathematics Subject Classification).
For the simplified relationship of the MSC2020 see:
https://mathscinet.ams.org/msnhtml/msc2020.pdf
or https://zbmath.org/classification/
For the full ratio of msc2010 just press (give a click) on the subject number on one of the sites given above.
For the articles of Mathematics Education, the overall ranking is 97. for instance:
97D40 Teaching methods and classroom techniques
The abstract and keywords must be presented in two languages.
For an article written in Portuguese or Spanish, the abstract and keywords must be presented in the language chosen for writing the text (Portuguese or Spanish) and also its translations into English.
For article written in English, this should present the abstract and keywords in Portuguese and English.
The MSC rating must be displayed only once, after the Keywords.
Accepted File Types and Templates
The original articles will be typed in LaTex or using the Microsoft Word program, depending on the models given in the links below.
Texts must be saved in pdf file.
For the submission of the article should be used the pdf type file, without identifying the names of the authors. Later, after the article is accepted for publication, the original files typed in Word or Latex will be requested.
Font Type and Size, Margins
Word articles must be typed in letter of the Type Times New Roman or Arial.
Margins: Normal, Sup 2.5 cm, Inf 2.5 cm, Esq 3.0cm, Dir 3.0 cm.
TITLE for articles written in Portuguese: TITLE in Portuguese – font size 14 and just below the translation of the TITLE into English in font size 12.
TITLE for articles written in English: TITLE in English – font size 14 and just below the translation of the TITLE for the Portuguese in font size 12.
AUTHOR - font size 12.
Abstract, Abstract, Keywords and MSC Classification - font size 11, spacing between lines 1.0.
Introduction, section titles, text - font size 12, spacing between lines 1.5.
Bibliographic reference (title and references) font size 12, spacing between lines 1.0.
Footnotes - font size 10, spacing between lines 1.0.
Tables, Tables and Figures
In general, tables are for quantitative data and tables are for qualitative data.
Insert each table or each frame centrally, close to the text to which it refers, with Arabic numeral number in ascending order, with title and with the reference of the source that was used to obtain the data from the table or frame.
Spacing 1.0 between the title and the table or table and spacing 1.0 between the table and the cited reference.
It is recommended to insert a table or frame on a single page. If this is not possible, use the ABNT and IBGE standards.
Preferably use font size 12 for the title and data padding of a table or frame. For the reference given below the table (Font), use only font size 10.
If you need to decrease the font size used to type data from a table or frame to insert it into a single page, use font size 10 or 11 for title and data fill. For the reference given below the table (Font), use only font size 10. In this case, standardize the font size of all titles and data typed in the tables, frames, and figures of the text.
On a table, keep the side edges open.
In a frame, the side edges are closed, and the horizontal and vertical lines are drawn.
Formulas
Number formulas with Arabic numerals in parentheses, with the right-aligned numbering and the centralized formula. Font size 12, according to text.
