Abstract

This article aims to recover the history of the development of the electric guitar and its industrial origins, based on bibliographic research. This characteristic becomes relevant in current discussions about the artisanal construction of this artifact and how we qualify this type of production. Firstly, the historical context that led to the electrification of instruments is presented. Next, the first acoustic guitars and their transition to solid bodies are introduced. Following that, a parallel is drawn with the beginnings of Brazilian production, and finally, a discussion on perspectives regarding handcrafted electric guitars is provided, considering their industrial logic.
