RECONFIGURAÇÃO DO INSÓLITO FICCIONAL E DO ARQUÉTIPO DO ZUMBI NO CONTO “CARNE” E DE MARIANA ENRIQUEZ (2017)

Abstract

This work aims to reflect on the construction and updating of the fantastic fiction in the short story “Carne”, an integral part of the work Los peligros de fumar en la cama (2017) by Argentine author Mariana Enriquez. The discussion was developed with the aim of discussing the organization of the fantastic fiction in parallel with the construction of horror in the development of the story, considering that the story reflects a contemporary fantastic without abandoning essential issues of the traditional fantastic and reconstructs the image of the zombie archetype. The research follows the point of view of the contemporary fantastic and the traditional fantastic from the Bulgarian philosopher and linguist, Tzvetan Todorov (2010) in his work  Introdução à literatura fantástica, and the contemporary fantastic from the point of view of the Spanish writer and literary critic, David Roas (2013) in his work A ameaça do fantástica. Horror will be treated from the point of view of theorist Noel Carroll (2004) in his work The philosophy of horror, which proposes how horror is modalized within works and the zombie will be discussed from the point of view of Deborah Christie (2011) in her work Better Off Dead: The evolution of the zombie as post-human. Given this context, we ask: How is the fantastic constructed throughout the story? What narrative resources are used to construct the fantastic and horror? How has the zombie archetype been reconfigured? And, finally: how is the zombie archetype configured based on the contemporary relationship between fans and their fan objects, especially with the mediation of digital media?
