The women's sexual desire have been the subject of several studies, mainly focusing on their lack or decrease. This study aimed to analyze, from the perspective of gender studies, the narrative of women in long-term relationships who considered their sexual desire as “very good”. In this purpose, twelve women were selected, from three gynecology clinics, with ages ranging from 32 to 78 years. Starting with semi-structured interviews and content analysis, 4 categories were found: 1) Deromantization process; 2) Exercise of the inner self; 3) Partnership in marital relationships and 4) Vigor and mettle. In these women, a process of progressive disconnection from the sexual roles traditionally attributed to them is pointed out, resulting in greater assertiveness and self-centering, reflected in their partnerships and in their way of conducting their lives on a personal and sexual level.
