Abstract

The article discusses links between religion, collective identities, politics and sexuality
in a segment of evangelical churches in Brazil that removes homosexuality from the definitions of sin in the Christian tradition, constituting dynamics of renewal and politicization of the field. The growing concern of some religious aspects with gay marriage, the adoption of same-sex couples and other demands of LGBT movements are brought into focus, from fieldwork conducted in Brazilian evangelical churches, inclusive churches or LGBT churches. I argue about the link between religious languages and categories and ideas of the field of sexual rights, constituting passages and innovations.
