The social and legal status of gay men, lesbians and transgender persons, and discrimination against these populations in Latin America

This paper briefly examines some of the sociocultural and legal conditions either helping or hindering the life of gay men, lesbians, and transgender individuals in Latin America. Some comparative data available about the legal situation and discrimination towards these populations is presented. In conclusion, the scope and persistence of prejudice and discrimination against gays, lesbians, and transgender individuals in the region is discussed.Downloads
