Abstract

This essay is an interpretation of the origins of the Republican Party in contemporary Colombia, taking as a timely space the year of 1819 and, as fundamental sources, the festive events produced in Santa Fe de Bogota. It also brings up a series of conceptual proposals on the notions of Country, State, Nation and Republic as central to the political discussions of this time, since these are part of the process of construction of the Colombian nation.
