Abstract

This work presents a discussion on art in indigenous societies situated in the scene of contemporary art. It analyses the body  painting, graphic art and the ritual between the Asuriní of the Xingu river, comparing them to the conceptual art and to the performance art. The analysis demonstrates the knowledge of the Asuriní which can be found in these manifestations, as well as the contextualization and the processes that occur in their production. Manifestations of other indigenous people are also approached, such as the Kaxinawa, the Xavante and the Kayapó-Xikrin, relating them to philosophical principles and ethical and moral values, and to ritual which are presented as scenic performances.
