Abstract

This article aims at understanding how market dynamics interfere with the practice of the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), one of the best known in the world, which nonetheless lies outside the List of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by Unesco, different from the Carnival of Oruro (Bolivia), Barranquilla and Blacks and Whites (both in Colombia).
