Abstract

The aim of this paper is to problematize the category baiana of acarajé in the context of Rio de Janeiro, through the description and analysis of the way in which these agents are formed. From the field research, I try to trace the life stories of four acarajé Baianas. This way, I seek to understand the multiple meanings of baianas and their acarajé through the cooking system in which they are included.
